Okay so these photos may not look like much. But what they show fills me with excitement. They tell me that the garden is slowing waking up. Masses of green shoots are peeking through the soil in bed and border. I can't tell you how much of a thrill it is to see them there, head above the parapet, ready to burst forth and welcome Spring.
I think I've mentioned my bulb mania that saw me plant in excess of five hundred of the little beauties. I have this dream in which I'm pegging out the washing on a Spring morning surrounded by a beautiful display of wafting blooms. There is a gentle breeze, and the sun is warm on my face as I float around the garden admiring the flora.
So these innocuous stalks of green are the beginnings of another year in the life of this fledgling gardener. I have a lust list (as my guru, Laetitia would say) of perennials and annuals, and a garden plan. I have found my trowel, which for some strange reason was wedged in an almost inaccessible part of the palm tree, and tomorrow Olly and I will be cleaning pots and trays for seed planting galore.
Quite simply I am entranced by my garden, and it's potential. I never thought that a seed or a bulb could make me feel this good.
